Techno, trance & psytrance ยท Hardware improvisation

Abstract synthesizer pattern in forest green; placeholder artwork for Peter Freetime

Peter Freetime is a techno and electronic music project shaped by the sounds of 1990s techno and trance. Trance and psytrance are part of its musical range, with the emphasis on playing and exploring sounds directly rather than following a fixed arrangement.

Hardware synthesizers and his own samples are the main tools. A session starts with hands on the instruments: trying a sound, changing a pattern, or letting an unexpected result suggest the next step. Experimentation and improvisation are central to this process. The music takes shape through the interaction between the player, the machines and the material already in motion.

That approach also carries into live performance. Peter Freetime offers improvised hardware sessions without a fixed, pre-produced programme. Each set develops as it is played and can last up to 90 minutes, allowing time for ideas to unfold and change direction.
